Music Theory for the Young Child - Two Black Keys and Three Black Keys

Downloadable in pdf format for beginning music students aged 4 to 10

Two Black Keys and Three Black Keys Music Theory Worksheet for the Young Child

This free printable music theory worksheet teaches students how to recognize two black keys and three black keys on the piano.  The concept of black keys is important because black keys serve as landmarks for identifying white keys.  This is recommended for early childhood beginners or young students who are just starting out on their music instrument.

Piano Adventures Theory Book, Primer

Alternatively, if you wish to purchase theory books, you may wish to consider the following piano series.  Piano Adventures is the piano method that I have used on all of my beginner music students.  I've tried many different methods (Alfred's, Bastien's, Thompson's, etc.) and found this one to be the most effective, enjoyable, and suitable for children beginners.  This is the theory book for the Primer level that is used in conjunction with the Piano Adventures Lesson Book and other corresponding books.  Go to Piano Adventures Theory Book, Primer.

The instructions read: Write 2 on the line if the group shows 2 black keys.  Write 3 on the line if the group shows 3 black keys.
