Music Theory Worksheet - Lesson 1: Staff

Downloadable in pdf format for music students

Lesson 1: Staff

The first lesson deals with learning about one of the most fundamental concepts of music, the staff. The staff is a set of five horizontal lines and four spaces.  Each line and space represents a musical pitch.  Music symbols are placed on the staff based on their corresponding pitch.

Alternatively, if you wish to purchase theory books, I recommend Julie Johnson's theory workbooks, which I use with my students.  It is written in 10 levels and corresponds with the Certificate of Merit exams in California.  They are comprehensive and make music theory learning enjoyable for students.
